"El Santuario de Chimayo Shrine"

This historic site is also called
the "Lourdes of America",
because its' sacred sand pit is said to have healing properties, as attested to by a display of discarded crutches, braces, wheelchairs
and other medical aids, in
the adjacent "Prayer Room".
In creating the 28" x 36" original oil painting, Santiago mixed a small amount of the sacred sand into his oil paints.
