A Message from the artist... |
My first collection of paintings was inspired by my passion to form a better understanding of myself, and my family heritage. I chose the old, dilapidated and forsaken buildings and landscapes of the Highway 91 ten-mile drive, south, along the Pecos River, between Santa Rosa and Puerto de Luna, New Mexico. As an artist with a deep love for my heritage, I initially chose to devote my time and talents toward preserving the last vestiges of that culture. Through my art, I hoped to immortalize my people’s early beginnings and help in their struggle to retain their identity against "time", so that "when all is returned to dust and the mesas stand alone", there will remain a link to the many generations of a "hardly-noticed" and almost forgotten people. ................................................. Many years have passed, and I now live in Carson City, Nevada. It is still the "Southwest" and shares much of the "character" of my home state, so I have begun to capture Northern Nevada and Northern California's unique vistas, history and people. New inspirations constantly emerge and other states, peoples and regions of our great nation are calling me.
I’ve spent the last few years assembling and organizing my works so as to be able to present them to the world through the marvels of the internet. The main focus of our efforts right now, is to make my "life’s works" accessible, to the many individuals who have seen, bought or appreciated my work, over the years, and to provide options for purchasing prints of many of my works. For now, we’d like to preserve the "collection" of originals, and perhaps find and represent the many originals that were "sold" before we created this website. ................................................. I want to express a special thanks to my wife, Lin, for being so supportive in assisting me in my quest throughout the last 40 or so years, in every possible way, from encouraging me to resume painting, to dealing with storage and "messy oil paint smears" throughout our home, storage and display issues, and to try to learn the new technology to make this website possible.
